Erosion and Sediment Control for Installers and Inspectors

Nebraska LTAP administers the Erosion and Sediment Control Certifications for the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

NDOT offers two courses related to erosion and sediment control; Erosion and Sediment Control Basics for Installers and Erosion and Sediment Control Basics for Inspectors. Candidates are issued a certification valid for 5 years upon successful completion of these courses. Obtaining this certification meets the NDOT specifications for qualified erosion and sediment control staff required on NDOT projects.

NDOT Erosion & Sediment Control Installer Certification Course

NDOT requires that individuals overseeing the installation of erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices be certified as an Erosion and Sediment Control Installer.

  • Who should take this course?
    • Contractors and NDOT staff that are involved installation or oversight of erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices.
  • The Erosion and Sediment Control Installer Certification is valid for 5 years from the certification date. Recertification may be obtained by retaking the Certified Installer course or by successfully completing the Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector course.
  • Delivery Mode: Online, On-Demand.
    • Course Link This course is delivered online through eXtension Campus.
    • Participants will need to create an account or log in to an existing account with eXtension's online classroom platform.
    • Users logged in to their accounts can self-enroll in the online course.
    • Completing all of the quizzes with a grade of 70% or higher will open the link to download a course certificate.
    • Users can print a wallet-sized certificate by printing the page at 25% resolution.

NDOT Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector Certification Course

NDOT requires that individuals involved in the inspection of projects for erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices or Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) management be certified as an Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector. Certified Inspectors also meet the requirements to oversee the installation of erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices.

  • Who should attend this course?
    • Contractors and NDOT staff involved in the selection or inspection of erosion and sediment control Best Management Practices or SWPPP Management for an NPDES-permitted project.
  • The Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Certification is valid for 5 years from your certification date. Recertification may be obtained by retaking the course without the exam.
  • Delivery Mode: Live Class Schedule
    • To obtain the certification, participants must complete of the course and obtain a grade of 70% on the quiz.
    • After grading the quizzes, Nebraska LTAP will email a certificate to the participant and update the database of certified inspectors.
